The Millie Award The
"Millie" will be awarded to a female SIOR with distinguished
career of outstanding SIOR service and production. This year's
Millie Award was awarded to Mildred C. Hanson, SIOR,
posthumously. Her husband, Peter O. Hanson, SIOR, CIPS, and
daughter, Nina Guenther Berman accepted the award on Millie's

SIOR Chapter Matching Scholarship Program
In the fiscal year
ending August 31, 2009, SIOR Foundation matched
$71,250 in scholarships to 21 SIOR Chapters who awarded 76
students in 38 undergraduate and graduate real estate related
degree programs.
The Foundation encourages SIOR Chapters to solicit matching funds to augment or implement their own scholarship awards program.

Mildred C. Hanson, SIOR Memorial Scholarship Thanks to the generous
donations of many SIORs, the Mildred C. (Millie) Hanson, SIOR
Memorial Fund, which was established to honor and support women
in commercial real estate, will grant a $3,000 scholarship to an
outstanding undergraduate female student in an accredited real
estate program at a college or university in the United States
or Canada. Please click on the

Hispanic College Fund: SIOR Foundation Scholarship
Program The SIOR Foundation Hispanic Scholarship Program
provides need- and merit-based college scholarships to deserving
Hispanic students in the commercial real estate industry. Last year
the SIORF awarded four $4,000 scholarships.

Matching Chapter
Programs Grant
In the fiscal year ending
August 31, 2009, SIOR Foundation has matched $29,646 to 12 SIOR
Chapters in support of educational programs, speaker fees and
community research projects. The Foundation encourages SIOR
Chapters to solicit matching program funds.
University of Northern Iowa's Center for Real Estate
Education
The SIOR Foundation provides annual
funding to the University of Northern Iowa's Center for Real
Estate Education. The Center's aim is to develop a nationally
recognized resource for real estate professionals with the
analytical and technical skills to compete in the global market.
The University's real estate program is the fastest growing
major on campus and its growth is due to the major success of
the program and graduate placement. The Center for Real Estate
Education will continue to build the real estate program and
provide the Iowa real estate industry with high quality
graduates. The SIORF is pleased to support this initiative and
the program's mission to be a leading provider of premier real
estate professionals.
In 2008-2009, the SIOR Foundation funded
$10,000 toward the University of Northern Iowa's Real Estate
Education Center. The grant was the thirdof a $50,000 total, which
will be awarded over a five-year period to help develop an
endowment.

Municipal Development Report Card
SIOR Foundation and the Utah Chapter of SIOR helped sponsor the Municipal Development Report Card in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The project is completed in conjunction with the local NAIOP
Chapter and is contracted through the Marriott School of Business
Real Estate Department at Brigham Young University. The report
analyzes and identifies the cost of fees and permits and time to
construct an average sized office and industrial building in the
major municipalities in the Salt Lake City market.
The report is presented at the annual Commercial Real Estate Symposium in
January. The Symposium is attended by more than 500 individuals from the brokerage, banking, and development professions.
The Foundation matches up to $2,000 each fiscal year for Chapter
expenses to conduct a study of government business processes
affecting commercial real estate transactions through university
partnerships.
SIOR Foundation grants matching
funds up to $500 annually to all SIOR members for students
interested in career opportunities in commercial real estate
brokerage through internships with SIOR designees.
Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS® Educational Programs
SIOR Foundation sponsored the development and launch of the SIOR internet-based educational program,
Ethics and Professional Standards. This program fulfills the Society membership requirement to complete training on the SIOR Code of Ethics which holds members to a much higher than industry standard.

Industrial Real Estate (4th Edition)
One of the most widely read and respected reference books in the industry, this text contains a wealth of valuable information on industrial real estate from real estate's importance to industry and the economy, to broker functions, space growth and demand, site selection, and real estate as an investment. Published in 1984.
The Office Building Book: from Concept to Investment Reality
The Office Building Book examines every aspect of this unique property type from design and development to market analysis and investment strategies. It contains a wealth of tables, figures, and photographs, plus numerous case studies that illustrate actual properties and transactions. Published by the Counselors of Real Estate, the Appraisal Institute, and the SIOR Educational Foundation in 1993.
Contribution funds continue to make worthwhile educational and research projects such as these possible.
